African black soap (Ose = Soap, Dúdú = Black) originates from West Africa; Togo, Benin, Ghana, and primarily amongst the Yorùbá people. The recepie was then passed down from generation to generation by the women and was eventually shared amongst many countries such as Nigeria & Ivory Coast, as they traded resources with one another such as peppers.
